Key Finding

This study confirms that the EasyAngle® digital goniometer provides good to excellent intrarater and interrater reliability in assessing hip range of motion in children.

Abstract

This study confirms that the EasyAngle® digital goniometer provides good to excellent intrarater and interrater reliability in assessing hip range of motion in children.

The purpose of this study was to examine the intrarater and interrater reliability of the EasyAngle® digital goniometer for assessing passive hip range of motion in healthy children aged 6-12 years.

Methods

Repeated measures design with two examiners measuring hip flexion, extension, internal rotation, and external rotation in 30 healthy children.

Study Figures

Figure 1: EasyAngle® being used to measure hip ROM in a pediatric patient.

Results

Intrarater reliability was excellent (ICC 0.90-0.97) for all hip movements. Interrater reliability ranged from good to excellent (ICC 0.75-0.93).

Conclusion

The EasyAngle® digital goniometer demonstrates good to excellent reliability for measuring hip range of motion in healthy children, making it a reliable tool for pediatric physical therapy assessments.
