Key Finding

This study evaluated a new single-hand digital goniometer against the conventional universal goniometer for measuring joint angles in horses.

Abstract

This study evaluated a new single-hand digital goniometer against the conventional universal goniometer for measuring joint angles in horses.

Veterinary applications of digital goniometry were examined.

Methods

Comparative study measuring joint angles in horses using EasyAngle® and conventional universal goniometer. Multiple joints including carpus, tarsus, and fetlock were assessed.

Results

EasyAngle® showed good agreement with the universal goniometer and offered practical advantages for single-handed measurement in veterinary settings.

Conclusion

The digital goniometer is a valid alternative to the universal goniometer for equine joint angle measurement, with improved practicality for veterinary use.
