Key Finding

This study found excellent interrater and intrarater reliability of the EasyForce dynamometer for assessing shoulder, knee, and hip muscle strength in healthy young adults.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the interrater and intrarater reliability of EasyForce dynamometer for assessing shoulder, knee, and hip muscle strength in healthy young adults.

The study evaluated the consistency of measurements across different raters and within the same rater over time.

Methods

Shoulder, knee, and hip maximal isometric strength were measured using the EasyForce in healthy adults (11 women and 12 men). Three repetitions of shoulder internal rotation, abduction, knee flexion, extension, and hip abduction and adduction were performed. The tests were performed by three raters on the same day.

Results

Excellent interrater reliability was found for all measurements (ICC > 0.90). Intrarater reliability was also excellent with ICC values ranging from 0.92-0.98 across all muscle groups tested.

Conclusion

The EasyForce dynamometer demonstrates excellent interrater and intrarater reliability for measuring shoulder, knee, and hip strength, supporting its use in clinical practice and research.
